Transforming a piece of Sutton High Street

In June there was news of a plan to regenerate two historic buildings in a key part of Sutton. The £4.4m project will transform the properties, creating new spaces with the hope it will help to bring new life to the area. We want to have a closer look at this here. Then, if you need help with guaranteed rent in Sutton, you can rely on us.

Revitalisation

Guaranteed Rent SuttonThe two buildings in question are at 137-145 High Street. They are historic properties, making them quite an interesting piece of the area. However, they are both vacant after previous occupants Topshop and Vision Express did not renew leases.

Sutton Council has decided that refurbishing the buildings is the best course of action. They will fund part of the work. The other piece of the funding will come from the Future High Streets Fund, a Government scheme that aims to modernise town centres. The local authority got £11.35m to help with Sutton’s improvement.

The plans for the two buildings are quite interesting. As we said, previously they were separate shops. However, the new plan is to create a 20,000sq/ft venue. It will have large open plan spaces on the upper floors of the four storey buildings. The ground floor and basement will be individual commercial units.

Sutton Council has chosen experts Willmott Dixon Interiors to do the work. They will ensure they protect the historic facade of the properties. The project will also improve the electrical services throughout the buildings. Plus, it will include new mechanical services.

It will be great to see the results of the work and the impact it has on Sutton High Street. The hope is it will add vibrancy to the area and increase footfall. It could also attract other investment. If you invest in homes and then want guaranteed rent in Sutton, we can help.

Responses

Sutton Council’s Carolyn Dwyer, the strategic director for development, growth and regeneration had some words about the project. She said the council is excited to see the transformation of the beloved site. They hope it will “guarantee a bright future for our town centre”.

The director of Willmott Dixon Interiors, Simon Wilson, also had comments. He said they were looking forward to the project and would use their vast experience to transform the buildings to ensure they benefit local people. Even more importantly, he hopes the work will “attract new occupiers and encourage wider town centre regeneration”.
