The key thing is the plans will deliver 1,116 new homes. This will fully replace all 291 social rent properties. Additionally, it will create 135 more, making the total amount of social housing just over 38% of the homes on the site. Ultimately, the goal for the project is to create a brand new modern neighbourhood. It will feature 12 new buildings, the tallest climbing to an impressive 21 storeys. Amenities will include a new community centre, a nursery, and two parks with significantly more green space across the site. There will also be new commercial spaces.

Developer Mount Anvil will be taking on the redevelopment. Director Marcus Bate said getting approval is a “just reward” for the project. He also said they’ve been working for many years to build trust with residents and collaborate with partners like Newlon Housing and Islington Council.
Finally, CE of Newlon Ruth Davison gave thanks to residents for “keeping faith” with the proposals to redevelop. They can now begin the work on site. Notably, the project will create the majority of the social rent homes in the first phase. As a result, current residents “will have the benefit of the investment first”.
