Cultural Hackney fund grant

Hackney Council launched this new grant in January 2024. It aims to provide funding to support communities, allowing the delivery of a variety of cultural events. Each applicant can request small grants of up to £4,000.

The first round of grants opened earlier this year. There were an impressive 111 applications, many from organisations and groups that had not previously gotten any sort of funding. A dozen were successful in winning the grants in February. Some have already held events, while others are planning them between now and November.

The fantastic thing here is how diverse the winners and applications were. They include various art forms and activities, from a variety of cultural backgrounds. It shows how rich the culture is in Hackney.

Next round

The first round of the grant was such a success, and is doing so much to celebrate the diverse culture, that Hackney Council is now doing a second one. Applicants have until 5pm on Wednesday 7th August to submit proposals. They can be for any community group or organisation. Funds can again be for various events and activities too, from screenings to exhibitions, talks to music shows. However, they must be taking place between October and March 2025.
