Plans for a new South London HMO have received approval from Bexley Council. This is despite some protests from residents. They believe it will attract the wrong sort of individuals to the area. Councillor comments

Councillors at the meeting recognised the objections. However, they did emphasise the need for affordable housing in Bexley.

One councillor said that HMOs supply a need for inhabitants. Another stated that he appreciated the concerns of local residents in regards to HMOs coming to the area. Planning documents from Expansion Group said that the current bungalow needs refurbishment because it has been empty for years. The documents went further by saying the proposed development would supply very high standards of living. It would include luxurious communal facilities. The HMO would be aimed at professional workers that want single bedroom accommodation.

During the meeting, the planning committee unanimously agreed to move forward with the plans for the Fremantle Road HMO. They see more benefit than potential harm for the area.
