The Deputy Leader of Hounslow Council, Cllr Tom Bruce, said the move “sets out to all landlords very clearly” what they need to do. They must abide by the rules and ensure “tenants are living well”. Crucially, they must make sure that accommodation is up to standard, free of hazards.

Councillor Bruce also reminded local people in Hounslow that they have a part to play in driving standards for HMOs. He said they can provide information anonymously about properties they have concerns about. The Council will then investigate and act if necessary.
