Big changes for Camden

There are plenty of great spots in London, but Camden is the highlight for many. It is a fantastic area for music, food, culture, shopping, and much more. Not surprisingly, it attracts millions of visitors every year. There could be even more reasons to visit in the near future too. We want to look at two things that could bring big changes to the area. Then, if you need guaranteed rent in Camden, you can speak to us.

Boxpark

Firstly, last month Boxpark announced that they would be taking over Buck Street Market. If they get planning permission from the Council, they will refurbish the complex and make it their fifth location in the UK.

Currently, Buck Street Market has 12,000 square feet of shipping containers. They are home to 23 food units as well as 23 retailers. It is currently owned by Places for London, the property company for Transport for London (TfL).

Boxpark and Camden is a match made in heaven. The whole ethos of the brand is to celebrate food, music and entertainment, bringing communities together in the process. There couldn’t be a better location to do this and support local businesses. As a result, they are planning a “long term management plan” for the complex.

This part of North London is a fantastic place to live and is great for investors too. If you invest and want guaranteed rent in Camden, you can rely on us.

Pedestrianisation

Guaranteed rent CamdenLast week Camden Council also revealed new plans for the area. They are looking to pedestrianise the High Street to make it safer for visitors and reduce air pollution. The road can become very crowded, with 40,000 visitors at peak times. So, the change could be very good news.

The plan is to close the road to all vehicles other than emergency services and some refuse collections. Traffic would divert along Kentish Town Road and Hawley Crescent. Jamestown Road would also become one way. Cycling would still be able to use the High Street though.

Camden Council is currently doing a consultation on the proposal until 30th August. If it progresses, the changes would come in on an initial 18 month trial basis. At the 12 month point, there would be another public consultation to see what the public think about the change.
