Most people want to live in green areas where they can connect with nature. However, it can be difficult to find locations in big cities. Luckily, you can generally find what you are looking for if you try. That is especially true with London. We want to look at one area in the north of the city to consider that is becoming even greener. Then, if you need help with guaranteed rent in Haringey, you can speak to us.
Improving two parks
Haringey Council is to make improvements to two parks as part of their ‘Adaptive Wood Green’ Project. This will improve the Common and Barratt Gardens, adjacent spaces on Station Road.
In total the local authority is investing nearly £2m in the upgrades. The funding is from a £1.2m grant from the Good Growth Fund and Accelerator Fund as well as £794,000 from the Council’s community infrastructure levy.
The project to improve the green spaces got planning permission in April. With funding now in place, they can begin the work. The improvements will include “a new accessible multi-games area” to get more people using the park space. In addition, there will be more planting, including a plant fostering scheme.
The goal is to finish the work by the end of the year. It could make the area far more attractive, leading to more investments. If you decide to, you can ask us about guaranteed rent in Haringey.
Impressively here is the fact that locals will be able to help with the planting. A local horticultural group, Black Rootz, will be doing the plant fostering scheme. They’ll work with local schools so they can teach them about plants in the process.
More trees
Haringey Council is also working to plant more trees across the Borough. They recently announced that they would be working with Trees for Streets for a fourth year to empower locals to sponsor a tree on a local street, housing estate, or in a park.
The Council’s record for tree planting has been impressive recently as they look to improve air quality, reduce flood risk, and support the environment. Last year there were almost 2,500 new trees. Impressively, this saw the creation of three tiny new forests.
Community success
Another project to improve greenery in the area is Edible Landscapes London. The group has a community garden in Finsbury Park. It welcomes people of all ages to help with planting, pruning, maintenance, and more. There are groups, workshops, and activities for local schools.
The Council is providing support with funding from their Major Events income. They generate around £1.2m each year from the event programme at Finsbury Park. This money is then reinvested back into the park and local businesses.
