Now there are even more ideas to extend the DLR to serve swathes of South London. The area has traditionally been lacking in public transport. However, this summer plans for an extension to Thamesmead got approval. TfL is also planning for further work to take it as far as Bexley.

If the latter extensions do happen, the estimate is it could create as many as 10,000 new jobs. It could also allow the creation of up to 30,000 new homes in areas along the route.
