A huge Brownfield site
One of the things that make this project stand out is it is one of the few remaining large Brownfield sites in London. As a result, the scale of the opportunity here is impressive. The site itself has a really interesting history. It was one of dozens of barracks built in the wake of the French Revolution in the 18th century. The project also aims to maximise sustainability. It will do this in a number of ways. Most impressively will be the use of solar panels and air source heat pumps. This technology will supply hot water to homes and handle the heating. As a result, there will be no gas central heating on the site.
